Paid Handyperson

Professional Handyperson

Reliable, fully employed handypeople to tackle the jobs that often go unfinished.

Perfect for tasks that:

  • Require specialist tools or professional-grade equipment

  • Need long ladders or transport via van

  • Take more than one hour to complete

  • Need faster turnaround or urgent attention

We still offer volunteer-led help for smaller DIY tasks—however, our paid service guarantees experienced, skilled support for more complex work.

Typical Work Includes:

  • Fitting grab rails- White is provided as standard. Any alternative must be supplied by the client prior to the appointment.

  • Installing curtain rails & tracks

  • Flat-pack furniture assembly

  • Furniture disassembly

  • Preparing homes for hospital or profiling beds

 

Please provide a link to the flat-pack item you would like assembled (for example, a product link from IKEA, Argos, or another retailer).
This helps us assess the job and ensure our handypersons bring the appropriate tools and equipment. Please note: If the item can be assembled by one paid handyperson, labour is charged at £35 per hour. If the item requires two paid handypersons to assemble it safely, labour is charged at £45 per hour. Labour is charged in full-hour increments, even if the full hour is not used.
Most flatpack instructions include an estimated build time. You will usually find this estimate on the front cover of the manual or at the beginning of the step-by-step guide, often represented by a small clock icon or a number of “people needed” silhouettes.

What does it cost?

£35 per hour, plus the cost of materials and any parking charges.

Please note: The £35 per hour rate applies to our Paid Handyperson service only. Jobs requiring specialist tradespeople, such as joinery work, are charged at different rates and will be quoted separately.
Some common handyperson jobs have fixed prices and can be booked without the need for a quotation. Other work may require a home visit so that we can assess the job and provide a quotation before work begins. Unless otherwise stated, quoted prices are fixed for the agreed work.
